Monica and I originally connected through her project Bear With Me, and pretty quickly realized we were having a lot of the same conversations about life, struggle, and how hard it can be for people to ask for help.

The truth is… reaching out isn’t easy. And when people finally do find the courage to ask for support, they’re often met with judgment instead of compassion. People assume it’s weakness. Or that someone’s situation must be the result of bad decisions.

But life isn’t that simple. Life throws curveballs. Sometimes really big ones.

Both of us believe it’s time to change that conversation. Asking for help shouldn’t come with shame. It should come with support.

So Monica, thank you for believing in this vision, for standing behind MyPath Maine, and for continuing to push these conversations forward even when they’re uncomfortable or controversial.
